Mr. Daniel S. Before founding Third Point, Mr. Loeb worked in the securities industry for over a decade, gaining dedicated experience in equities, distressed debt, high-yield bond sales, risk arbitrage and private investments. Immediately before founding Third Point, he was Vice-President of high-yield bond sales at Citigroup. Prior to that, he was a Senior Vice-President in the distressed debt department at Jefferies & Co., where he worked as an analyst, bank loan trader and bond salesman. Before Jefferies, he was a risk arbitrage Analyst at Lafer Equity Investors.
He started his career as an Associate in private equity and venture capital at Warburg Pincus. Over the past fifteen years, he has served on five publicly-traded company boards: Ligand Pharmaceuticals; POGO Producing Co.; Massey Energy; Yahoo!; and Sotheby’s, where he is a current board member.
He has served on numerous Board Committees including Executive, Compensation, Nominating and Corporate Governance, and Business Strategy.
